Last week, one of my friends who has a large range of Calphalon pans complained about the yellowish color of stainless steel pots. She asked me about some solution to clean the pans. Meanwhile, I was already searching for the best ways of cleaning non-sticks.
So my research on the cleaning of calphalon pans and some firsthand experience that were the result of trial and error theory became her rescue.
I decided to pen down the whole information that you need to know about cleaning and restoring Calphalon pans.
What is Calphlon Cookware?
Calphalon has multiple types of cookware. Their products are stainless steel, hard-anodized aluminum, or non-stick pans. The Calphalon products are long-lasting but they need proper care in multiple ways.
Calphalon is the preferred kitchenware for many of us. Sometimes utensils are burned and due to excessive usage or carelessness.
The stainless steel and hard anodized pots are less prone to burn or disaster as compared to the non-stick pan. However, stainless steel can become yellow due to overheating. On the other hand, hard anodized or non-sticks are not dishwasher safe. So if food burns accidentally then a question arises of how to clean these pans?
How to clean Calphlon Cookware?
In order to keep Calphalon pans in good condition, few things should be followed. For instance daily cleaning with quality dish soap, sponge, and hot water. The regular cleaning keeps the calphalon pans in excellent condition.
If the pans have stubborn stains or discoloration problems then there is a need for more deep and thorough cleaning. For this, you need some specific dishwasher soaps, brush towels, and hot water.
For washing non-stick pans, soft scrub or Scotch Brite is used. The surface of non-stick pans is very delicate, hence hard brush or scrubs can’t be used, or else it damage the interior enamel. It is also recommended for non-sticks to boil with hot water in it before washing.
Hard-Anodized pans are also not safe for the dishwasher. So they should be washed manually. For regular cleaning, simple hot water and soap can be used with the scotch brite. However, the stubborn stains can be used with some traditional methods and also with Barkeeper Friends.
In general cleaning of Calphalon pans depends on the type of pans as well kind of stains. However, few tested products are available in the market. I will list those products here. Along with this, there are some traditional methods of cleaning that run through our family. I will also mention those methods and products in this piece of writing.

Through Traditional products:
Above mentioned products are very effective to remove stubborn stains. They also have very excellent customer reviews. However, I have observed that sometimes the traditional method of cleaning became the last rescue. I am listing here a few of the traditional products and methods that I have learned from my mother dear. So here are the cheap and effective methods to clean Calphalon pans.
1. Salt and lemon:
The first traditional method is by using salt and lemon. Lemon is known as a natural cleaning agent and stain remover. While salt can be used to clean and polish the hard surface, it is abrasive When combining salt with lemon, it gives you the best result be it stain or grease.
Use:
The method to use both products is very simple. You have to take two spoons of salt and one spoon of lemon juice. The quantity can be increased by keeping the given ratio in mind. Then rub the mixture gently on the stain or burn surface. It is also effective for discoloration. Leave the pan for almost 25 to 30 mins. After that scrub the pan with the scrubber and then wash it with clean water.
2. Vinegar:
Vinegar is of many types. But when it comes to the cleaning, white vinegar has no match. White vinegar is effective for both interior and exterior of the pan. It is acidic due to the 4-7% presence of acetic acid that is very effective to remove burn stains.
Use:
An equal proportion of white vinegar should be mixed with water. For instance 1 cup vinegar with 1 cup water. Put this mixture in the pan and let it boil for a while. After one or two boils turn off the flame and let the mixture in the pan. Leave it for 5-10 mins and then remove the solution. After that scrub the pan and wash with clean water.
3. Cream of Tartar:
Cream of Tartar is acidic in nature, which makes it effective for removing grease and odors. It can be used on the interior as well as the exterior of the pan. You have to make a paste of cream of Tartar with water.
Use:
Make a paste of Cream of Tartar with water by mixing well. Then apply the paste to the pan and leave for 10-15 mins. After 15 mins, gently rub the pan with the scrubber and wash it with clean water.
Precautions while cleaning Calphalon:
Keeping your Calphalon Cookware ready to be at its best some somethings need to be taken care of. Many things come in handy and you need to know when it comes to taking care of your Calphalon Cookware. Let’s start with keeping your Calphalon Cookware away from high temperatures when you wash your dishes. High temperatures can not only burn your food but will also lead to a devastating impact on your cookware. Utensils such as Calphalon are heat efficient therefore the food needs to be cooked at medium temperature this will allow your food to not burn and maintain efficient temperatures.
Always try and know that exposing your heated cookware to cold water will have a devastating impact on your cookware. Once you expose your cookware to cold water small bubbles will appear thus distorting the shape of the utensils. Therefore it is quite good to expose your cookware to cold water once it has been cooled down. Always wash your cookware by hand and not in the dishwasher. This will distort the shape of the cookware.
Another thing that you need to make sure while you clean your cookware is that you clean it with a mild chemical and not with a hard chemical. You need to ensure that the chemical is not as astringent and coarse so that it may not have any devastating effect on the cookware.
Once you have washed your pan the next thing that you need to ensure is that it is cleaned and dried thoroughly. Although air drying might sound like a viable option yet we need to ensure that the pan is towel-dried so that we can reduce the risk of rust.
Conclusion:
Dishwashing is one of the daily tasks that we do but are still not sure about whether we do it right or not. There are no certain ways to clean your utensils however when it comes to Calphalon cookware we need to ensure certain things. Sometimes things may get out of hand and the traditional methods might just not be enough to cater to the fuss that has been created.
For that, as mentioned above we have researched and brought a few yet the most efficient tools to help you clean those dirty stains. As a careful person myself I do quite an amount of research when it comes to making things matter.
Therefore the commercial products mentioned above are one of the finest presents in the market as of now. Issues such as rusting and stubbornness are although uninvited yet they are the inevitable part of the cleaning process. The cleaning process is commercial when the scale sometimes gets out of hand and traditional when the scale is still in control.
I have been in charge of my kitchen since I can remember. More-so-over I have been practicing these traditional methods myself for quite a long time, therefore, I assure you that any of the methods mentioned in the article are not new and un-practiced.
